Forthcoming Primary Competitions Events

Swindon Primary Netball League (School Games)

The Swindon Primary Netball League is here! Enter your team by October Half-term (preferably earlier) – once entered you will be placed into one of the pools and play matches against the other teams in your pool. The exact number of games will depend on how many schools enter.

Pool matches will be played up until February half-term. Following the pool matches we will organise play-offs to determine our overall winner.

This is open to pupils in yrs 5 and 6. You must have a squad of 9 players, with a min of 2 and max of 3 boys. The competition will follow the ‘Bee Netball’ format (formerly high 5) where pupils rotate around the positions – please acquaint your team with the format. There is some flexibility for league matches re match length etc – you can agree that with your opponent. For example, you may decide to play 4 quarters of 10 minutes with a rotation at the end of each quarter.

Cross country competition

Team competition – for a minimum of 3 pupils (but can include more). We will have races for: yr3/4 girls, yr3/4 boys, yr5/6 girls and yr5/6 boys.The competition will include a race from the park itself (by the lake), into the Lydiard Park Academy fields, and finishing back at park – roughly 1mile long. By starting and finishing in the park, we are able to allow parents to watch.

PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE AT LYDIARD PARK ACADEMY – you will be re-directed the park.

In addition to team trophies, we will award a medal to the top 3 individuals from each race.

Football Competition (yr3/4)

A fun competitive opportunity for pupils in year 3 and 4 to represent their school. The competition is open to boys and girls (but no actual gender requirements).

Swindon Schools Dance Festival

This is a fantastic opportunity for your pupils to perform on a professional stage and perform in front of family and friends.

'B' Team Football (yr5/6)

A great opportunity for those pupils not usually selected for the school football team to enjoy some competition and represent the school.

Tag Rugby Competition (yr3/4)

Pupils in yrs 3/4. There are no gender requirements for this competition. Players must hold the ball in 2 hands and no diving to score a try!

School Games Tag Rugby (yr5/6)

Pupils in yrs 5 and 6. Team needs to include 4 boys and 4 girls on the pitch (squad can be up to 12). Players must hold the ball in 2 hands and no diving to score a try!

Primary Gymnastics Competition (yr1/2, 3/4 & 5/6)

The gymnastics competition takes the main form of the performance of a set routine (supplied to all teams that enter or upon request).

School Games Quadkids Competition (yr5/6)

Team must consist of 4 boys and 4 girls (but can bring an extra boy and girl) and each participant will do a 600 metre run, a 75m sprint, a standing long jump and a vortex howler throw (like a Nerf ball).

Team must consist of 4 boys and 4 girls (but can bring an extra boy and girl) and each participant will do a 400 metre run, a 75m sprint, a standing long jump and a vortex howler throw (like a Nerf ball).
