The Primary PE National Curriculum dictates ‘what’ to teach but offers little in terms of ‘how’ to teach, and this is often left to the discretion of the teacher. Sport Education is a pedagogical model which was developed to provide students with an opportunity to participate in authentic, realistic and enjoyable sporting experiences whilst facilitating learning in the physical, social, and cognitive domains. Sport Education offers high quality PE experiences at the same time as hitting curriculum requirements.
This interactive workshop will introduce the concept of Sport Education and how it could be implemented in the Primary PE Curriculum, whilst also challenging educators to see how wide it could be used within the curriculum when combined with any other timetabled subject.
Attendees will leave with a good understanding of the model and a variety of free resources to help them to implement Sport Education into their curriculum.
